Frequently asked questions
Your initial exam will be pretty involved. This covers many different paradigms, and often includes some treatment. It generally takes 2-3 hours, sometimes more. We are the most time efficient if you are able to fill out intake forms ahead of time (sent to you upon scheduling). The cost (and length) of the initial intake varies by the complexity and urgency of your health situation; supplements will also be recommended, but these are always negotiable.
Follow-up sessions can be infrequent or frequent. For these I charge $160 per hour.
Minimal services are also available, such as involving only the transformational aspect, which would be most cost effective. I am happy to discuss the range of services with you.
Payment My practice is “fee for service.” Health Savings Accounts have covered my services, but you need to check with your carrier for specifics. I am “out of network for insurance”. This means that after you reach your “out-of-network” deductible, then they may cover a percentage (such as 50%) of those services that are deemed acceptable. I have opted out of Medicare (that is, I don’t participate). I am not included in CHP.
I accept check, cash or credit card (or debit). I give a discounted rate for paying by check or cash, with the full price for credit or debit cards (prices given are for cash or check). The difference in rate is equivalent to my card transaction fee (2.75% for swiped card, 3.75% for keyed entry).
Contact me to discuss the fees, which are dependent on the specifics of your situation.
The intention of my practice is explore another way to understand disease pathogenesis (why and how disease happens), and to explore the practical aspects of putting that information into practice (how people can become happier and healthier).
Ideal patients have a feeling, or even a curiosity that there is a better way to approach their health. Patients who are willing to consider that their body is not like a car that needs to be repaired, but instead it is able to heal itself. Patients are often very pleasantly surprised by the side effects of feeling happier and more engaged in their lives.
Also ideal are patients who have run out of options and are desperate: scary diagnoses, medical mysteries. I work in such a different way, almost all patients say they had never experienced anything like this work. I am not looking for problems, I am looking for solutions.
Although there is benefit to a single session, giving you a different understanding of factors that are important to your health, the far greatest benefit with this practice comes from dedication to making major changes, that can only happen over time.
I am deeply appreciative of my patients who are intuitive and insightful enough to recognize that there is more to their health challenges than simply taking medications and having surgery, though these are sometimes extremely beneficial. This work is completely complementary. I appreciate that they are willing to take this journey with me. It is through them that this new approach to healthcare is being developed.
